Summary: Introduction. At present with an increase of the share of the diseases of the system of blood circulation in the structure of morbidity and mortality of population with the significant rejuvenation of the diseased contingent the important criterion of effectiveness of social-hygienic measures achieved is health status of the students of higher medical establishments, which determines the duration of the period of effective working activity of the future health care professionals.
Aim. To assess the state of adaptive and compensatory capacity of an organism of students in higher medical educational institutions.
Material and methods. Assessment the physical development, nutritional status, the state of the functional system of an organism of female students were carried out before and after the examination.
Object of research - the second-year female students of the Faculties of General Medicine (25 subjects) and Pediatrics (25 subjects) of the Grodno State Medical University at the age of 18-20 years.
Results. Adaptive potential as for the conditions of academic activity of the majority of students corresponds to normative values. The maximum of adaptive processes is reached toward the end of the third month of instruction, the minimum - to the end of summer examination session.
Conclusions. Adaptation tension mechanisms are more expressed in the students of the Faculty of Pediatrics.
