dc.description.abstract In this article, we reviewed the specificity of amino acid metabolism in the brain. We considered the results of many basic studies that supported a role of amino acids as neurotransmitters, substrates for synthesis of neuroactive peptides, proteins, and other biologically active substances in the CNS. These data suggest that changes in the pool of amino acids may be involved in the development of CNS pathologies. ru_RU
